Ordering & minimums6 questions

What is the minimum order?

There is no minimum order quantity on a first order. The minimum is a value rather than a piece count, it is quoted to you personally, and the order can be mixed across as many lines as you like.

From the second order on, the minimum per line is set on your proforma invoice, with the carton quantity beside it and how many cartons fit a 40-foot high cube. Most of our partners order by the container, which is the cheapest way to buy per unit.

A mixed consignment through your representative in China is the way to test several lines before committing a container to one of them.

Do you publish a price list?

Prices are quoted per order, never listed. Tell the export desk the quantity and destination port and you will have pricing, lead time and shipping options back.

More on this: ContactLink to this answer

Do I need to order a full container?

No. A full container ships directly to your port. Anything less is consolidated by your representative in China — an agency company, a buying office or a forwarder with a depot in Yiwu — who receives the order from us and books the shipment.

Every line in the catalogue is published with its carton spec, CBM and gross weight, so you can plan the load before you ask us for a price.

Most distributors already have one. If you do not, ask us who we work with.

How is payment structured?

In two parts. A deposit — usually 30 to 50 percent of the order, depending on how long we have worked together — confirms the order and reserves the goods in your name; the balance is settled against the shipping documents and releases the bill of lading. The exact split and the terms that apply to your order are written on your proforma invoice. We settle by telegraphic transfer, documents against payment, letter of credit, direct bank transfer and Alipay.

More on this: OrderingLink to this answer

Are the goods reserved once I pay the deposit?

Once the deposit agreed on the proforma invoice arrives, the order is confirmed and the goods are reserved for you. Reserved means reserved: nothing allocated to your order is sold to anyone else while it is being prepared, whatever else comes in.

How quickly does the export desk reply?

Pricing, a lead time and the shipping options for your port, in writing — as soon as possible, typically within a week. The desk keeps China Standard Time: Monday – Saturday 09:00 – 24:00 · Sunday 18:00 – 24:00.

You will have a proforma invoice with the price, the minimum per line, what is in stock and the transit to your port — in writing.

Lead times & shipping7 questions

How fast can you ship?

We hold ready goods for the majority of what we publish, and a ready-goods order normally ships within a week of the deposit: picked, packed into export cartons and ready to load, with no production run in between. Anything made to order — a voltage, a colour or a plug type we do not hold in stock — needs production time first, typically thirty to forty days, which is the wait a supplier without stock puts on every order.

Add the sea transit for your port: four to eight weeks to Europe while sailings route round the Cape, about four weeks to the Gulf, two to three weeks across the Indian Ocean, and three to seven weeks to Latin America. The map, and every market, is on transit times.

A special request for your market or your business — your own branding, packaging or logo — takes around thirty-five days on average, counted from the day the deposit is paid and the artwork is confirmed.

More on this: OrderingLink to this answer

How long does a made-to-order or custom order take?

Anything made to order needs production time first — typically thirty to forty days for the majority of the goods. That covers, for instance, a voltage different from our ready goods, a special request such as a colour change, or a plug type that is not in the ready-goods stock in our warehouse.

A special request specific to your market or your business takes around thirty-five days on average, counted from the day the deposit is paid and the artwork is confirmed — the artwork being the designs for the packaging, the logo and the like.

Ready goods, which we hold for the majority of the items, normally ship within one week. The sea transit to your port comes on top of either figure, and the lead time for your order is confirmed on your quotation.

Which port, and on what terms?

Ningbo, about two hours from the factory by road, and the port we ship from. Most orders are quoted EXW or FOB. On EXW the goods are ready at our door in Yiwu; on FOB we deliver to the port, clear for export and load, and sea freight, insurance and import are yours.

FCA, CFR, CIF and delivered terms are available — each one is explained on the shipping page.

Which countries do you ship to?

Sales to more than 100 countries across Europe, MENA, Central Asia, Latin America and Central America.

By full container to your port, or by mixed consignment through your representative in China.

More on this: Transit timesLink to this answer

Which container do you quote, and how much fits in it?

Appliances are light and bulky. On a mixed appliance load you run out of room long before you run out of payload, which is why the high cube is the box we quote and the 40-foot standard rarely earns its place.

About 68 CBM of usable space — roughly nine more than a standard 40 ft, for the same freight.

Also available — 40 ft standard and 20 ft, quoted on request

Who books the sailing, and do I approve the freight cost?

We select the sailing out of Ningbo that fits your order and your port, and send you the freight cost. Nothing is booked until you have confirmed it: the price of the voyage is agreed with you, every time, not discovered on the invoice.

More on this: OrderingLink to this answer

Who pays import duty and clears customs at my port?

Before the container arrives you settle the balance due on the invoice. Against it we release the bill of lading, and with the bill of lading the container is yours to clear at your port. Import duty, VAT and customs clearance at destination are handled on your side, unless the order was quoted delivered.

Documents & compliance12 questions

Which documents come with the shipment?

The commercial invoice and packing list at booking; the bill of lading once the container is on board, released against the balance; a certificate of origin on request; and with the release, the EU Declaration of Conformity and the test reports for every CE-marked line you bought. The full list is on the compliance page.

More on this: OrderingLink to this answer

What does each trade document do?

Five documents travel with a full order. The proforma invoice is the quote in formal form — you sign it and pay against it, and it is not a tax document. The commercial invoice is issued when the goods ship and is what your customs office assesses duty on. The packing list itemises every carton by SKU, quantity, weight and dimensions. The bill of lading is the carrier’s document and is what releases your container at the destination port. The certificate of origin is issued by a chamber of commerce and decides your import duty.

What does the CE mark on a Lexical product actually mean?

It means the manufacturer declares the product meets the EU requirements that apply to it — for a mains appliance, principally the Low Voltage Directive and the EMC Directive — and has a technical file and a Declaration of Conformity to support that.

For almost all household appliances there is no external body that issues a CE mark: conformity is declared by the manufacturer on the strength of testing against the harmonised standards, chiefly the IEC and EN 60335 series for household safety. We hold the test reports and issue the declaration; you receive both with the order.

More on this: ComplianceLink to this answer

What certification do you supply?

CE. That is what we issue as standard, with the EU Declaration of Conformity and the safety and EMC test reports behind it, per model. It travels with the goods and is available before you order.

Anything beyond CE — a national scheme, an inspection certificate, a buyer-specific report — is arranged on request rather than supplied automatically. Tell the export desk what your market or your customer asks for and it is confirmed with your quotation, before you commit to the order.

More on this: ComplianceLink to this answer

We sell outside the EU. What then?

The same appliance, a different paper trail. UKCA for Great Britain, EAC for the Eurasian Economic Union, SASO and the Saleem programme for Saudi Arabia, G-Mark for the Gulf states, and CB scheme reports where a national body will accept them as the basis for local approval.

Tell the export desk the destination with your enquiry. Which schemes apply depends on the product and the country, and we would rather confirm it for your case than publish a general claim that turns out not to cover you.

More on this: ComplianceLink to this answer

My market asks for a certificate of conformity. Can you arrange one?

Where your market requires one, it can be arranged for your order. Say so with your enquiry and the export desk will confirm what it involves before you order.

Some importing countries will not clear regulated goods — electrical appliances among them — without a certificate of conformity: a document issued for the shipment by an approved inspection body, confirming the goods meet that country’s standards.

More on this: ComplianceLink to this answer

Can I have the certificates for a specific model?

Certificate numbers and scanned documents belong to a particular product and a particular test report, so they are issued with that product’s quotation rather than published here. Ask the export desk for the file on any line you are considering.

More on this: ComplianceLink to this answer

Can I see the documentation before I place an order?

Yes. Send the models you are considering and the destination market, and the export desk returns the documentation set that applies to them. It is sent as documents, attached — never as a link into our own file storage.

More on this: ComplianceLink to this answer

Where does the standard you build to come from?

Germany. Lexical’s European roots are German, and the specification we inspect against is the German market’s — the EN 60335 series, and the expectations that go with selling into it. It is the demanding end of Europe, which is the point: build for the market that asks the most and the rest of the range is covered.

That shows up in ordinary places rather than in claims — the cord and plug specified per market, the rating label written out in full, the declaration and the reports in the shipping set as a matter of course rather than on request.

More on this: ComplianceLink to this answer

What is printed on the rating label?

The Lexical name and the brand mark, the product name and the product code, the rated voltage and frequency, the wattage, and the CE mark. Where the appliance is double-insulated it also carries the class II symbol — the small double square.

On a private-label order the name and mark on the label are yours instead of ours, and the label is set out with you before the run. Either way the electrical figures on it are the ones the appliance was built and tested to, for the market you named.

More on this: ComplianceLink to this answer

What about WEEE?

WEEE is an obligation on whoever places the goods on the market in each country: registration and membership of a recycling scheme in your own market. That one is yours to hold, not ours, and no supplier can hold it for you.

We say it plainly because it is the obligation buyers most often discover late. If you are importing into the EU for the first time, set it up before the container sails rather than after.

Where do I find a product's HS code?

Verified customers see each line's HS code in its specification on the product page, and on its printed datasheet. Where no code is on record yet, the page says so, and you can ask the export desk for it from there.

Not verified yet? Sign in or create an account, then ask the export desk to verify it.

Products & branding8 questions

What does Lexical make?

Electrical home appliances, across a growing number of categories, supplied wholesale, OEM and private label. The range is sold in three lines: Professional Unlimited, the volume line; Simplify Your Life (PRO+), the higher specification; and Simplify Your Style, for beauty and personal care. Twenty to thirty new lines are added every month.

The catalogue on this site is read live from our inventory system, so what is listed here is what is published today. The range behind it is wider, and the export desk holds the rest.

More on this: ProductsLink to this answer

Is the appliance built for my voltage and my plug?

It is built for the market you name. Say the destination country with your enquiry and the voltage, frequency, plug type and cord are specified for it, and confirmed in writing on your quotation.

If you want to check the market yourself first, the mains supply map carries the voltage, frequency and plug type for every market we quote.

Link to this answer

Can I sell under my own brand?

Yes, and it is a large part of what we do: your brand on our tooling, with your artwork, manuals, plug and voltage variants and retail packaging built for the market you sell into. A branded order takes around thirty-five days of production after the deposit is paid and the artwork — the packaging designs and the logo — is confirmed. Start on the enquiry form and say which lines you are looking at.

More on this: OrderingLink to this answer

Can you put our brand on the product and the packaging?

Yes. Private label and OEM are a normal part of what we do: your name and mark on the appliance, the rating label, the carton and the manual. The artwork is set out with you before the run, and a branded order takes around thirty-five days of production once the deposit is paid and that artwork is confirmed — not the week a stock order takes.

One thing worth knowing early: where an appliance is sold under your name, the directives treat you as its manufacturer. We supply the declaration and the reports that sit behind it so that file is yours to hold, complete.

More on this: ComplianceLink to this answer

Is there a warranty?

Yes, published by line: one year on Professional Unlimited and on Simplify Your Style, two years on Simplify Your Life (PRO+). We hold spare parts for the lines we publish, which is usually the quicker answer for a distributor than a replacement unit.

On an OEM or private-label order the term is agreed per contract rather than the line’s standard figure — it depends on the category, the market and what is built to your specification.

The terms that apply to your order, and what a claim looks like in practice, are written into your order confirmation rather than left to be argued about later.

More on this: ComplianceLink to this answer

What happens if the inspection finds a fault?

It does not ship. Every unit is checked and counted as it is packed, before the container is sealed. That is the point of inspecting here: a problem found in Yiwu costs a day, and a problem found at your warehouse costs a voyage.

More on this: OrderingLink to this answer

What happens if something arrives faulty?

Tell us the model, the quantity affected and what the fault is, with photographs. Most cases are settled with spare parts, which ship with your next order rather than as a separate consignment. Where that is not the answer, we agree the remedy with you against the terms on your order confirmation.

Every unit is counted and checked here as it is packed, before the container is sealed — a problem found in Yiwu costs a day, and the same problem found in your warehouse costs a voyage.

More on this: ComplianceLink to this answer

Where do I find a product's barcodes?

Verified customers see each line's unit barcode (colour box) and carton barcode (brown box) on its product page, and can print them on its datasheet. Anybody else sees them masked.

Partnership & agency8 questions

Can we become Lexical’s exclusive agent in our country?

An exclusive agency works like a franchise: one partner holds the whole territory, and Lexical equips them to present the brand there.

Exclusive agency is granted per country. Apply for a territory: the country, your name and an email are all the application needs to send.

Link to this answer

What do you look for in an exclusive agent?

Three things. All three are required; the first two count most.

  • The brand, and after-sales. The Lexical name is safe with you, and there is a place in your market where a unit can be repaired, exchanged or returned.
  • Reach. The whole territory, not a corner of it. If your country has ten major cities, an agent cannot sell in two or three and leave the rest — the more of it you cover, the stronger the application.
  • Volume and value. How much you can buy from us in a year.

More on this: Exclusive agencyLink to this answer

What does an exclusive agent receive?

Everything here comes with the agency, once you are our partner.

  • Enquiries from your territory — Anyone from your territory who comes to Lexical is referred to you, as Lexical’s agent there.
  • Display stands — Stands to show the range in your stores.
  • Branded marketing materials — T-shirts, notebooks and catalogues with the Lexical branding, so every customer who walks in feels the brand.
  • Product videos and photographs — Videos and pictures of our products, for you to use.
  • Online presence — Support for your online presence as Lexical’s partner.
  • Exhibitions in your region — You can represent Lexical at future exhibitions in your own region.

What happens after we apply?

The export desk reads every application and answers in writing as soon as possible, typically within a week. If it looks right, the next step is a call. Terms and pricing are agreed then, per market — nothing on this site is a price list.

More on this: Exclusive agencyLink to this answer

Can we meet you at the Canton Fair?

We are at the Canton Fair.

Both sessions, every year, in Guangzhou. It is the easiest way to meet us: the range on a table, the carton in your hands, and the whole conversation about terms and territory in one afternoon rather than across a month of email.

Tell the export desk you are coming and we will send the booth number for the session and put time aside for you.

Where is your showroom?

In Yiwu, at 571 Chouzhou North Road, Futian Street — where the range is on show, and where every order is picked, inspected and packed before it ships. The address in Chinese for a driver, and a route on Google Maps (outside China) or Amap (inside it), are on the contact page.

Link to this answer

Which languages are spoken at the showroom?

Our salespeople at the showroom in Yiwu speak English, Chinese, German, Bulgarian, Arabic, Kurdish and Romanian. Book your visit in advance and tell us the language you would like, so we can arrange for the right person to meet you.

This is for visits to the showroom in person. It is not a promise that messages, emails or calls will be answered in these languages.

How do I become a verified customer?

Create a partner account, then ask the export desk to verify it. Verification is for customers who already order from us. A verified account sees the full barcodes and HS codes on every line and can print them on the datasheets.

More on this: AboutLink to this answer

What does “Lexical” mean?

“Lexical” means relating to the words — the vocabulary — of a language, from the Greek lexis, “word”; a lexicon is a dictionary. A range should work the way a dictionary does: complete, ordered and exact. That is what the name holds us to — the appliances a household runs on, each line with its own entry, specified, documented and checkable, so a distributor finds what their market needs and knows exactly what they are buying.

More on this: AboutLink to this answer

Who does Lexical sell to?

Businesses only: distributors, wholesalers, retailers buying in volume, and private-label and OEM partners, in more than 100 countries. Prices are not published — every price is a quotation from the export desk.

Businesses: distributors, wholesalers, retail chains and online sellers — buying the Lexical range as it is, or having it made under their own brand as OEM and private label. Every enquiry is answered by the export desk itself.

More on this: AboutLink to this answer

Are you a manufacturer or a trading company?

A manufacturer, not a middleman.

Every line is specified, tooled and quality-controlled to our own standard, and every order is picked, inspected and packed here before it is sealed. That is the whole argument for buying from us rather than through a trading company: there is no one between you and the bench the product was built on.
